A local college will offer two free courses

Lamar State College Orange wants to provide financial relief to students, especially as the region continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

New and returning students will have the opportunity to enroll in two summer courses free of charge during the 2022 summer semester.

Tuition for up to two courses will be paid for each student from Texas and Louisiana who completes the Free Summer Tuition Recognition Form, according to a news release.

Distribution for students without dual credit:

  • Enrolling in a course will receive a $354 scholarship applied to their balance, covering tuition for one course.
  • Enrollments in two courses will receive a $708 scholarship applied to their balance, covering tuition for two courses.

Breakdown for dual credit students:


  • Enrolling in a course will receive a $135 scholarship applied to their balance, covering tuition for one course.
  • Enrollments in two courses will receive a $270 scholarship applied to their balance, covering tuition for two courses.

“The opportunity will be offered while funds are exhausted,” the press release read. “Students are encouraged to enroll in Summer I and Summer II as early as possible in order to take advantage of this opportunity.”
