Dumitru “Mitru” Zdrentan was born in Ineu, Romania on October 3, 1954. He died on January 24, 2022.

Mitru was the second child of 12 children born to Dumitru and Florita Zdrentan. In 1968 Mitru moved to Arad, where he was also baptized in water in 1975. In March 1976 he married Lidia Farcau and together they started a new life. In October 1977, God blessed them with their first child, Radu Zdrentan. Desiring a better life for his family, Mitru immigrated to the United States in 1981. With the help of the Romanian Church of Philadelphia in Chicago, he began the process of bringing Lidia and Radu to the United States, and they arrived in Chicago in 1982, reuniting their family. In April 1987, God blessed them again with their second son, Jeff David Zdrentan. In 1999, Mitru was baptized in the Holy Spirit and began serving in church and prayer meetings. In 2002, Mitru, Lidia, and Jeff moved to Arizona, and in 2004 they moved to North Carolina, where Mitru served in Bethesda Church, Emanuel Moldavian Church, and Bethany Church as a deacon.

Mitru worked hard all his life to ensure that he could provide a comfortable life for Lidia and her children, and to be able to help his parents and siblings with whatever he could. He loved his grandchildren, Ryan and Jonathan, and it brought him joy to have them visit him every summer. Mitru loved prayer and the Word of God. He took seriously the spiritual gifts with which he was blessed and he desired to lead the brethren and young people of the Church to a life of prayer and holiness.

“Do not worry about anything, but in all situations, by prayer and request, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
