Fortnite kicks off Rainbow Royale 2022 event with new free items

Epic Games kicked off the 2022 iteration of the now-annual Rainbow Royale event lore by Fortnite.

The event is a celebration of the games LGBTQIA community and kicked off at 8pm ET on August 31st, it was in the early hours of 1am UK time on September 1st.

Similar to last year’s celebration, a brand new group of cosmetics are being offered for free to all players in the in-game Item Shop.

This year’s free items can all be grabbed now. Just head to the Item Shop and you’ll find them in the Catalog for 0 V-Bucks. They understand:

  • Mazy and the Echoes Loading Screen
  • Rainbow Royale 2021 loading screen

Fortnite Rainbow Royale 2022 – Rainbow Crossroads, Challenges Your Way & Rainbow Radio

Additionally, a special island has also been created for the event. Rainbow Crossroads is full of activities that you and a few friends can take part in, including go-kart races, a photography studio, and more. It’s in the Discover tab, or use the code 0487-8528-5944.

Visiting the island will also allow you to complete Play Your Way quests this week. This will net you the Kaleido-Crusher Pickaxe, Cuddle Kickflip Back Bling, and more for free.

Finally, if all that wasn’t enough, this year’s Rainbow Royale will also see the launch of Rainbow Radio on September 8th.

This special station will air in-game and feature hits from star artists from the LGBTQIA+ community.

Confirmed names include Lady Gaga, Janelle Monae, Lil Nas X, Todrick Hall, King Princess and Kim Petras, all hosted by special guest radio DJ Matteo Lane.
