Race 1: Panashop Handicap
Tricky competition to open the card. #10 Stunning Capitalist calls after a pair of impressive tries under Angus Chung. Using his 10-pound apprentice claim is key here and the inside door will ensure he has a chance to find the front and the lead. #8 Strongest Boy looked solid before his debut. He showed a bit of toe early on and a clean run late should see him make his presence felt. #2 Happy Won has the dots on the board. Protect yourself. #13 Young Sparkle has been consistent so far. Good draw.
Race 2: Panasonic Handicap Futon Dryer
#10 Fortune Patrol was terribly unlucky last start and he can atone for that effort this weekend. He received a good weight here and he is the one to beat in this class and on this trip. #8 Sky Gem is a tidy remnant in this category. He runs well and will have every chance of an inside draw. #6 Superb Daddy is closing in on another win. He was unlucky in the last start and definitely showed he had much, much more to offer. #1 Star Of Glory should hit the forehead and stay there for a while.
Race 3: Panasonic Ziaino Air Treatment Handicap
Tough contest on paper with several of the top prospects yet to make their Hong Kong debuts. Siding with General Ace #7 here after a tidy trial in Conghua. The wide draw is against him, but chances are he could enjoy an expected speed battle. #8 Golden Bull looked good on track and in practice. Strong push with Zac Purton keeping the ride after doing a pile of work with this guy. #6 Fast Buck comes from the right stable. Protect yourself. #5 Dragon’s Luck should move forward and fire.
Race 4: Panasonic Japan Made System Kitchen Handicap
#12 Luck Star shows he’s better on the dirt. Benno Yung’s record on the surface this season is remarkable with five wins out of 14 starters and he looks well-placed to build on that stat here. He’s the one to beat and a probably hot tempo should suit. #1 Skyey Supreme is a threat in Class 4. He makes his best runs in this class and is expected to have every chance up front. #10 Green Laser is coming very slowly. Protect yourself. #6 Righteous Doctrine gets a chance again. He will win again soon.
Race 5: Panasonic Lighting Handicap
#2 Speedy Mouse returns after a stint at Conghua with injury. He produced a pair of tidy tries on the grass and perhaps running down the straight will ensure his strength going forward. #5 Flying Dragon is doing well this term, however, he just can’t put his nose up front when it counts. His day will come and it may well be Saturday. #12 Wonderful Unicorn debuts in Hong Kong. He did more than enough to deserve consideration. #8 Pleasant Endeavor is the next best.
Race 6: Panasonic IH Warm Jar Handicap
Take a chance on #11 Master Of Luck here. There were a few bad luck stories in his last race, but none more so than him. He is progressing well for a lightly run prospect and any further improvement suggests he can continue to take the right steps. #4 Marado comes out of the same competition. He did well and didn’t have much luck. Expect him to atone for this effort. #3 Flying Mojito draws well. He has a touch of talent and can continue his progress. Every way luck. #6 Speed Fay Fay is the next best.
Race 7: The Panasonic Handicap Cup
#5 Blaze Warrior stands out here for John Size and Alexis Badel. He returns to first after several tidy track performances under Badel. He has proven himself in the past and the draw should guarantee his opportunity. #4 Fantastic Treasure returns in proper company in Class 1. Expect it to capitalize on a good draw with a smooth run just behind speed. #2 Cheerful Days has won third place in the past. He has class and will improve as he goes back. #3 The Golden Scenery can test this band.
Race 8: Handicap Panasonic Mini Ice Food Freezer
#3 Bear Slam knows what dirt is, and he’s favored to win first. The wide draw isn’t too much of a concern, however, it can sometimes mix up its form quite drastically. His best can win this and it’s worth siding with. #6 True Legend did well to stick to the third last start. Expect him to find the front again and from there take a bit of a step back. #2 Super Dynamite grabs attention after an early sonic effort. #1 Maximus did well first but has since had a bout of colic. Don’t neglect.
Race 9: Panasonic IH Cooker Handicap
#13 Enchanting Ibis is a very beautiful horse and he can continue his progress here. He is running in superb form, narrowly missing the last start in this category and on course and distance. Expect him to be better for the race and he can win this one. #2 Bundle Of Charm has two wins from five starts. A strong booking from Zac Purton is worth considering and the fourth gate will ensure him every possible chance. #9 Phoenix Light can improve on second place. He’s a talent and worth a gamble each way. #4 Lucky Eight is second best.
Race 10: Panasonic Nanoe X Thermo Ventilator Handicap
#4 Voyage Bubble was huge when it was last released near the end of last season. He seems to have carried that form through the breakup with him and his best has him in a very good position here. He has the gate speed to offset the wide gate and win. #5 Excellent dad can improve the return to the turf. He is running better than his last two outings indicate. #12 Sweet Encounter has two wins in two starts. Although talented, he is now in rank, which could catch up with him. #2 Beauty Charge has claims.
