LAJC offers free help with enrollment in affordable care

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Enrollment for Affordable Care is now open.

Understanding health care can be confusing, which is why the Legal Aid Justice Center offers its services free of charge.

“This is the time when consumers across the country, but especially here in Virginia, can purchase comprehensive and affordable health insurance plans at low prices,” said LAJC senior counsel Michaela Lieberman Martin.

Heathcare.gov is a one stop shop for all available options.

“What is a franchise? What is a bounty? What is your maximum disbursement? What are the benefits of these particular plants so consumers can make the right choice for themselves and their families? said Liberman Martin.

It can still be confusing; This is where Michaela Liberman Martin comes in.

“We’re all working together to guide consumers through this process of entering their information, to help them find the plan that’s right for them, what their needs are,” Liberman Martin said.

LAJC makes the appointments and will help everyone go through the process for free.

“If you have the slightest suspicion that this is something you are interested in and you are not sure if you qualify, no worries, give us a call, we can arrange a time to schedule an appointment for you. We will tell you if you are eligible or not. And we’ll walk you through what your options are,” Liberman Martin said.

For coverage that begins in January, the center recommends having an appointment by December 15. Their number is 434-220-1496 where you can leave a name and number for an appointment.
