Newcastle want to sign Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer

Jthe future of chelsea central defender Antonio Rudiger is going to be one of the most talked about topics in English football as the season draws to a close, and a club ready to offer the Germany international a lucrative contract is Newcastle United.

Rüdiger is in the final months of his contract with chelseahis contract due to expire on June 30, and Newcastle hope they can tempt him to join their exciting project at St James’ Park.

The January transfer window, the first window in which Newcastlenew owners of could flex their financial muscles, saw the Magpies bring in Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood, Bruno Guimaraes and Dan Burn on permanent deals, and the Telegraph says they hope to add another defensive reinforcement in Rüdiger next summer.

Rüdiger is supposed to want a contract that reflects its value to chelseaor his new club, while Newcastle shouldn’t exceed their new salary structure which involves paying star players upwards of £200,000 a week.

Will Rudiger stay at Chelsea?

While Rüdiger has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with real Madrid having also been mentioned as a possible destination, it is not impossible that he will end up signing a new contract with chelsea.

“You have to listen ma’am,” the 29-year-old told Sky Sports in January when asked what factors would be involved in deciding the next step in his career.

“You have to think about your family. My children were born here in London, which tells you that my family feels good here.

“The rest is up to other people to make decisions and then we’ll see if we get together or not.”

Rüdiger has been able to sign a pre-contract deal with a foreign club since January 1, although he is likely to assess his options at the end of the season.
