T-Mobile: ViX+ streaming service free for one year for customers

T-Mobile releases a new special offer for streaming in español.

The mobile operator has announced an agreement with TelevisaUnivision offering new and existing T-Mobile customers a free year of ViX+, the media company’s new Spanish-language subscription VOD package. Scheduled to launch on July 21, ViX+ will regularly cost $6.99/month in the US — a value of nearly $84 for T-Mobile subscribers who take up the offer.

In the first year, ViX+ will be stocked with 10,000 hours of original series, telenovelas, movies, news and live sports, all in Spanish – including over 4,000 hours of live football at United States ViX+ will be available from mid-August through T-Mobile postpaid and T-Mobile Home Internet customers (including T-Mobile for Business customers) on eligible phone plans, as well as customers Metro by T-Mobile with unlimited plans.

The “ViX+ on Us” benefit comes on top of T-Mobile’s bundling of Netflix (either the basic or standard tier, depending on the customer’s mobile plan) and its one-year free offering of Apple TV+ and Paramount+. T-Mobile sees a sizable audience hungry for Spanish-language programming from ViX+ — for example, Hispanic Americans spent 34% of their time watching TV on streaming platforms compared to 25% for non-Hispanic white Americans, according to Nielsen data from July 2021.

Terms of the deal between T-Mobile and TelevisaUnivision for the ViX+ giveaway are undisclosed. Typically, in such arrangements, the distributor pays a wholesale fee per subscriber to the content provider.

“While AT&T and Verizon are actually raising prices for their long-time customers, we are doing things the Un-carrier way and giving our customers more at no additional cost,” said Mike Sievert, president and chief executive officer. from T-Mobile management in a statement.

ViX+ original series at launch include “María Félix, La Doña,” “La Mujer del Diablo,” and executive producer Selena Gomez’s “Mi Vecino El Cartel” docuseries. Exclusive July movie premieres on ViX+ include “Enfermo Amor” and “Mirreyes contra Godinez 2, ‘El Retiro’.” In addition to offering live Liga MX matches, ViX+ is the only Spanish-language streaming service in the United States with UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League matches. ViX+ is also the Spanish-language site for all UEFA national team competitions, including the UEFA Nations League, Euro Qualifiers, UEFA Euro and Finalissima.

ViX+’s exclusive content in production includes the Salma Hayek-produced romantic fantasy feature “Quiero tu Vida” (“I want your life”), the romantic series “Travesuras de la Niña Mala” (“Bad Girl”), adapted from the 2006 novel written by Mario Vargas Llosa and the YA action-horror-comedy series “Pinches Momias”, produced with Propagate Fuego. ViX+ customers also get access to everything on ViX, the ad-supported free tier that has over 100 channels, 40,000 hours of on-demand programming, plus live news and sports.
