US Open Free Fan Week returns next month


The best free tennis fan festival returns to Flushing Meadows next month.

The popular US Open Fan Week will return in 2022, after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The free week-long celebration of tennis and entertainment is scheduled for the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, home of the US Open, from Tuesday, August 23 through Sunday, August 28.

During US Open Fan Week, fans around the world can experience the sights and sounds of the US Open for free.

This includes the US Open qualifying tournament where fans can watch players try to secure a spot in the US Open main draw.

Last year, Emma Raducanu began her journey to becoming the US Open champion in the qualifying tournament. Additionally, tennis fans can watch the world’s best players train the week before the Open and even attend player press conferences a few days before the start of the last Grand Slam of the season.

US Open Fan Week will include:

US Open qualifying tournament: Featuring 128 men and 128 women vying for the last 16 spots in the two main draws, the tournament runs from Tuesday, August 23 through Friday, August 26 throughout the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

US Open Legends Match: Fans will have the opportunity to see former US Open champions Andy Roddick, Kim Clijsters, James Blake and Lindsay Davenport in an exhibition match in the grandstand on Tuesday August 23 at 7:00 p.m.

Featured Practices: Top male and female competitors will take part in featured workouts in the grandstand throughout the week, with entertainment and music for the fans in attendance, bringing even more excitement. Practices will take place throughout the week, with the schedule updated daily and available on USOpen.org.

Arthur Ashe Stadium Experience: A limited number of fans will be able to access Arthur Ashe Stadium each day to see players practice in the main US Open stadium and get an inside look at tennis’ biggest stage. Fans will be able to register for this opportunity through Fan Pass – more Fan Pass details can be found at USOpen.org. The Arthur Ashe Stadium experience will be available throughout the week.

Net Generation Kids’ Zone presented by Emirates: At the Net Generation Children’s Zone presented by Emirates, located at Backyard Court 17, fans of all ages can take part in a range of fun sporting activities, featuring six sports including tennis. The Kids’ Zone introduces fans to the USTA’s American development model: a multi-sport approach to nurturing the future athletes and tennis big names of tomorrow. The Kids’ Zone will be open throughout Fan Week.

Flavors of the Open: A new event for 2022, “Flavors of the Open” will give foodies the opportunity to experience the wide range of culinary offerings at the US Open. Taking place at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Thursday, August 25 at 7:00 p.m. ET, the event will also feature world-class chefs and tennis luminaries, and give attendees exclusive access to an evening practice featuring renowned players. Please note that this is a ticketed event to benefit the USTA Foundation.

US Open Media Day: The biggest stars of the WTA and ATP tours will participate in the US Open Media Day on Friday August 26 at 11:00 am. For the first time, part of the event will be entirely fan-focused, with those in attendance at Arthur Ashe Stadium able to hear the players directly as they answer various questions and talk about preparing for USA 2022. Chase Sound Check Concert: Taking place on the Fan Week Center Stage on Friday, August 26, attendees will be able to enjoy live music on the court at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. In 2019, the Chase Sound Check featured guest appearances from LANY and Leon Bridges. This year’s musical guest will be announced later.

Arthur Ashe Children’s Day: Celebrating the life and legacy of tennis and cultural icon Arthur Ashe, Arthur Ashe Children’s Day will return in 2022 on Saturday, August 27 at 9:30 a.m. ET. Tennis fans of all ages can experience a variety of tennis, music, and other on-court activities at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Other special appearances will be announced at a later date.

Holiday Inn® Kid’s Free Meals: Kids eat free at Holiday Inn® Hotels & Resorts, plus Arthur Ashe Kids Day and US Open Fan Week! The Holiday Inn brand will provide free meal vouchers for children 12 and under (limit two per family).

The main draw of the US Open 2022 will take place from August 29 to September 11.
